Background

The Institute for Manufacturing is part of the Department of Engineering at Cambridge University. Its remit is to integrate research and education with practical application in industry, providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) services to companies of all sizes.

Brief

The programme for a four-day conference on Artificial Intelligence was attended by 30 delegates from all over Europe. The conference included dinner in a traditional Cambridge College setting. The itinerary also incorporated other elements of the ‘Cambridge Experience’ such as punting and a walking tour.

Event

Kathryn Robertson, Events & Operations Administrator at the Institute for Manufacturing said: “We contacted Meet Cambridge about six weeks in advance to identify suitable and available venues to meet our brief. They came back to us quickly with four or five choices so we could make the final decision. This is a very efficient service and saves so much time for event organisers.

“We chose Trinity Hall which ticked all the boxes in providing a traditional College setting for the dinner. The team there were very professional, helping with menu choices and they were also very flexible as inevitably numbers kept changing! We used the Chetwode Room for pre-dinner drinks and then had dinner in the Leslie Stephen Room.

“Everything went well on the evening itself. We had excellent feedback from delegates who enjoyed the meal and really appreciated the special surroundings which contributed to a memorable time for them in Cambridge.
