Each year, the British Veterinary Association (BVA) holds its one-day Members’ Day in different locations around the UK to give as many of its 19,000 members the opportunity to attend as possible.
In 2022 it chose Cambridge for its location, easy access, and its quality venues which suited the requirements of the programme.
Programme
Members’ Day is a day to celebrate the profession and be inspired by the achievements of individuals from within the veterinary community; awards are presented for special achievements. It is also a platform for the annual officer handover and the formal business of the association.
Harriet Innes, Events Manager at BVA initially contacted Meet Cambridge to help her identify suitable and available venues for the day. She says: “I was really impressed by the four venues Meet Cambridge showcased during my site visit in April and found their team member who accompanied me very knowledgeable and helpful.
Facilities
“We chose Clare College as the facilities were ideal for the numbers who attend– around 120 – and it was easy for delegates travelling by train which we encouraged.
“The Riley Auditorium was perfect and we also had the Garden Room for refreshments – but on the day it was so sunny we were able to take our lunch outside onto the terrace.
In person meeting
“This was the first Members’ Day since the pandemic and everyone was very keen to get together in person so that we could present the awards and also participate in the networking at a drinks reception at the end of the day.
“The team at Clare was fantastic, both in advance of the event and on the day itself. I would definitely hold future events there in the future, should the occasion arise.”
