Background

Charles River Associates (CRA) is a leading global consulting firm offering economic, financial, and strategic expertise to major law firms, corporations, accounting firms, and governments around the world. Headquartered in Boston in the US, it also has offices in many other countries, including London in the UK and most recently a new branch in Cambridge.

It wanted to hold a recruitment networking evening in Cambridge to raise awareness of the new office and have the opportunity to talk to Cambridge University students about its boutique consulting services in the life sciences sector as a possible career path and make them aware of positions they had available in 2018.

Brief

Stacey Cornell from CRA who organised the event said: “Essentially we wanted a central location in Cambridge which could offer an attractive space for the networking element of our evening, as well as a suitable room in which to hold a presentation.

Event

“We contacted Meet Cambridge and enlisted its help in finding a suitable and available venue. Once they had our criteria, they came back quickly with a choice of venues from which we selected the Clayton Hotel (formerly known as the Tamburlaine Hotel) which was a new venue in the Meet Cambridge portfolio, only recently opened and ideally located by the railway station.

“It proved a great choice! We had sole use of an upstairs area called The Library which has the atmosphere of a private club and provided the perfect informal ambience for our networking. For our presentation, we went into The Marlowe Suite which had everything we required. The food and drinks were of a high quality and the team was flexible and professional in dealing with all our requests including some changes to the timing for the evening.
