Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) designs, develops and commercialises power transistors and integrated circuits based on the most energy-efficient material available, gallium nitride (GaN). GaN power devices are significantly higher performing than silicon-based devices, enabling a radical step change in energy efficiency and compactness.
For the last two years the company has held a Family Summer Day to which all the UK team is invited along with their partners, families or a guest. As a large percentage live in and around Cambridge, organising the event in central Cambridge works well for those who use public transport, cycle or walk.
Serah Gautrey, Executive Assistant says: “This year we arranged our Family Day in June so everyone could spend time together socially which is an important part of our company culture.

This year we selected Sidney Sussex College, and we sourced a local Face Painter through Facebook and a Magician through a Children’s Entertainment portal”

When I asked for a few changes, nothing was a problem at all, and she also reserved us a ‘Wet Weather’ room in case we needed it on the day – luckily we didn’t need”
“The staff on the day were polite and friendly, everything was set up as discussed and the food and drinks never ran out. At the end of the afternoon, they brought out some takeaway boxes for us to take home any leftovers which was a fantastic gesture!”
