Meet Cambridge Supports Seamless Delivery of High-Profile Business Conference
Client: Birketts LLP
Type of event: One Day Conference with Formal Dinner
Venue: Magdalene College, Cambridge
Birketts LLP, a UK Top 50 full-service law firm with a heritage spanning over 160 years, brought together more than 100 business leaders, directors, and key stakeholders from across Cambridgeshire to host the The High Sheriff’s Business Conference - a timely event focused on addressing the critical issue of modern slavery.
Rooted in its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles around diversity, sustainability, and social impact, Birketts saw the conference as an important opportunity to encourage the local business community to support the shared goal: making Cambridgeshire the first county in the UK to eliminate modern slavery.
With distinguished guests in attendance, including former British Prime Minister, Baroness Theresa May, careful consideration of venues and attention to detail were key to the event’s success, supported by Meet Cambridge.
Charm and convenience of a Cambridge College
Magdalene College, one of the University of Cambridge’s historic colleges, offered an inspiring and versatile backdrop for the day. With its central location and adaptable spaces, the College accommodated keynote talks, breakout sessions, and networking - all in close proximity.
Charlotte Price, Events and Sponsorship Executive, Birketts LLP said: “We were able to host the talks in close proximity to the breakout sessions halfway through. This was then flipped to the networking space after the event. This was essential to us.”
The layout allowed for seamless transitions between sessions and later transformed into a relaxed networking space where conversations could continue informally.
A memorable finale
The conference concluded with a candlelit formal dinner in Magdalene’s stunning dining hall - an experience many guests had never encountered before. The unique setting, steeped in tradition and history, added a memorable and distinctly ‘Cambridge’ dimension to the event.
