Cambridge sets the stage for outdoor industry leaders from around the world

Client: European Outdoor Group (EOG)

Type of event: Annual event

Venues: Cambridge Union Society, Trinity Hall, Clayton Hotel Cambridge and Ibis Cambridge

Cambridge proved the perfect setting for the European Outdoor Group’s (EOG) annual leadership gathering, thanks to its excellent rail connections, walkable city centre, and distinctive blend of historic and contemporary venues. With the support of Meet Cambridge, the organisers delivered a seamless multi-site programme that delegates hailed as their “best yet.”

The EOG represents the outdoor industry across Europe through a wide range of initiatives, and this was only the second time that this event was held in the UK. Cambridge was chosen as the host city for a truly global gathering focused on shaping the future of the sector. More than 200 senior leaders attended, travelling from as far afield as China and Japan.

A multi-site event with impact

The Cambridge Union Society provided the hub for the programme, hosting multiple presentations and workshops simultaneously, with all catering delivered in-house, and a charming outdoor space for informal networking.

Delegates also enjoyed a memorable VIP dinner at Trinity Hall, while accommodation was arranged across the Clayton Hotel and Ibis Cambridge, ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees.

Capturing knowledge and adding value

All sessions were recorded, providing additional value for members unable to attend in person. As a membership organisation, EOG ensures that useful resources are shared widely, and having a venue capable of supporting recording was a real asset.

Sustainability at the core

Reflecting EOG’s commitment to climate-conscious practices, delegates were encouraged to travel by train, particularly those coming from mainland Europe. The event also worked with climate partner myclimate to help minimise its environmental impact.

Outstanding delegate feedback

The event has been hosted in different member countries over the years, but feedback confirmed that the Cambridge edition was the “best yet.” Attendees were impressed by both the venues and the organisation, with the combination of heritage, hospitality, and efficiency leaving a lasting impression.

Simplifying the planning process

“Meet Cambridge made organising our event straightforward,” commented the EOG team. “Communication was excellent and the information provided was really useful. The support helped us create a memorable and seamless experience for our delegates.”
