Parker's Tavern, launches a new summer Afternoon Tea menu to enjoy as a takeaway or in the restaurant.

Enjoy quintessentially British summer classics in the sun with Parker’s Tavern’s luxury takeaway afternoon tea hamper, or enjoy a traditional afternoon tea service in the beautifully designed restaurant and bar

University Arms Hotel invites guests and day visitors alike to enjoy a delightfully fresh summer-inspired afternoon tea menu at its flagship restaurant, Parker’s Tavern. The tea is inspired by the tastes of British summertime and offers a delicious selection of savouries and sweets created by the restaurant’s talented in-house pastry team.

The summer afternoon tea includes traditional finger sandwiches from cucumber to chicken and watercress pesto, and other savoury bites including smoked salmon mousse and cheese and red onion quiche. Freshly baked scones will be served with blackberry jam and clotted cream, served warm from the oven. Sweet treat items include a unique Pimm’s macaroon creation, a Duke of Cambridge tart, lemon and elderflower drizzle cake, an apricot and pistachio choux and white chocolate and raspberry Madeleines. A free-from-summertime afternoon tea menu will also be available to guests.

This summer the hotel is also offering a takeaway afternoon tea option, allowing guests to collect their freshly-made delights to be enjoyed on neighbouring Parker’s Piece or by the tranquil River Cam. The takeaway afternoon tea can be organised by booking online or contacting the hotel in advance. The Parker’s Tavern team will then prepare the delightful picnic hamper, ensuring that treats are freshly baked, the tea is hot and the champagne is chilled ready for the booker to collect from the hotel at a time of their choice.

Parker’s Tavern is a destination restaurant in Cambridge overlooking the iconic Parker’s Piece. The vision of designer Martin Brudnizki, mirrors the communal dining halls synonymous with Cambridge Colleges. This English tavern serves locally sourced, seasonal food, with every dish a whimsical re-imagining of a British classic, sourced from field, fen and England’s seas. The restaurant features Cambridge Blue wall panelling, traditional solid-wood parquet flooring and original stained-glass windows with crest detailing, reminiscent of the traditional architecture of Cambridge University Colleges. The restaurant is part of University Arms, which is a landmark hotel located in the historic heart of Cambridge. First opened in 1834 as a coaching inn, the hotel relaunched alongside Parker’s Tavern in August 2018, after a two-year, £80m transformation.

The summer afternoon tea will be available at Parker’s Tavern every day from 12 pm – 5 pm. To book, please visit https://universityarms.com/eat-and-drink/.
