Selwyn College has completed the stylish refurbishment of three beautiful, traditional houses.

From January to August 2023, the buildings will be available for conference, and leisure visitors.

Located just one minute’s walk from the conference rooms, cafeteria and bar of the main College site on Grange Road, each building holds a combination of 10 or 11 single en-suite and non-ensuite bedrooms, providing a total of 32 rooms.

The refurbished houses complement event spaces such as the recently opened 140-capacity Quarry Whitehouse Auditorium with its modern live-streaming and hybrid AV equipment; and the traditional Dining Hall. Selwyn also offers 300 single and twin ensuite and non-ensuite guest bedrooms during vacation periods.

The three houses are each unique and every room has its own character, with the study focus of a student bedroom supported by brand-new furnishings throughout including the all-important WiFi connectivity.

In addition, there is a planned electric vehicle charging point as well as no reliance on gas due to a new ground source heat pump.

Jennifer Phillips, Bursar at Selwyn College commented: “This is a wonderful step forward in Selwyn’s sustainability achievements”.

Simon Gascoyne, Conference & Events Manager at the College said: “After many months of anticipation, we are delighted that the three hostels are here and already attracting interest. Accommodation in Cambridge Colleges during term time is a rare commodity. Clients are enquiring as individuals looking to stay in the city for business and weekend breaks, as well as groups attending events such as conferences and weddings.”
