A charity ball organised by a sub-group of the Cambridge University Catering Managers’ Committee has raised £15,600 for two local charities.

The CMC Charity Ball is biennial event and a highlight of the College catering teams’ calendar and this year it took place at King’s College. Guests at the special event took part in a charity auction and charity raffle to raise funds for Arthur Rank Hospice and Cambridge Convoy Refugee Action Group.

Ivan Higney, Chair of the Catering Managers’ Committee, said: “We are delighted to make this contribution towards the important work of Arthur Rank Hospice and Cambridge Convoy Refugee Action Group.  These charities touch the lives of so many people in the local community and help make a real difference to the day-to-day lives of those in need.”

Lee Corke, Chair of the CMC Charity Ball Committee, added: “This event was only possible due to the hard work and commitment of the Charity Ball Committee.  We would like to thank the English National Culinary Team, King’s College catering team and local students from the Cambridge Regional College for the outstanding catering they provided on the night.  We would also like to thank all those who kindly donated auction lots and helped to make the evening such a success.”
