Emmanuel College, founded in 1584 by Sir Walter Mildmay, Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I is situated in beautiful gardens with a famous duck pond and an early Chapel by Sir Christopher Wren.

A tranquil and welcoming oasis in the middle of Cambridge, the College has a variety of public rooms to accommodate a wide range of events and meetings. The main conference complex, the award-winning Queen’s Building, has a tiered theatre seating for up to 120 delegates with two breakout rooms. In addition, there are a number of flexible small spaces available.

The historic buildings, Old Courts and immaculately kept gardens of the College provide the perfect backdrop for any event.

An idyllic setting with over 400 years of history; every event, large or small, is treated with the same care and attention to detail. The College's historic setting is sure to impress and inspire.

Did You Know?

  1. In 1677, the original chapel (now the Old Library) was replaced by the present one, designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
  2. Founded in 1584, on the a Dominican priory site, by Sir Walter Mildmay, Chancellor of the Exchequer to Elizabeth I.
  3. The College is now fully mixed, with the first female undergraduates coming up in 1979.
  4. Famous alumni include George Porter, winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry (with Ronald Norrish) in 1967.
