Landmark hotel University Arms is delighted to announce its brand-new wellbeing offering with the launch of two treatment rooms. The hotel has partnered with one of Britain’s finest wellbeing brands, Aromatherapy Associates to create a bespoke treatment menu of massages, facials, and wellbeing experiences, offering guests the ultimate restorative city retreat.

The hotel’s serene new treatment rooms and relaxation space are in keeping with the look and feel of the hotel, designed by Martin Brudnizki. The new spaces will offer guests a quiet oasis to unwind and disconnect from the stresses of modern life and the hustle and bustle of the Cambridge city centre. Think sensory design, wooden furnishings, sumptuous velvet loungers, softly lit rooms and calming coloured walls, the new wellbeing space promises an indulgent afternoon after a day of discovering all that Cambridge has to offer.

The expertly trained Aromatherapy Associates therapists have carefully curated a bespoke treatment menu. For over 35 years, Aromatherapy Associates has specialised in harnessing the formidable powers of nature to enhance physical, mental and emotional being. The award-winning treatments and products showcase the finest natural ingredients, purest extracts and essential oils, making for a luxurious and effective wellbeing experience.

Signature treatments include The Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience, featuring a combination of eastern and western massage rituals to stimulate the mind, body and soul. Starting with a physical and emotional consultation, guests will undertake an aroma test to determine individually tailored and suitable oils from a choice of twelve therapeutic scents. Using Swedish and neuromuscular techniques to stimulate the nervous system, relieve muscular tension and lymphatic drainage to encourage healthy circulation, this treatment will leave guests totally destressed and re-energized. Visitors who are expecting can treat themselves to the Ultimate Pregnancy Massage, to wholly embrace the joys of pregnancy, while physically treating themselves. Alternatively, book onto one of the five sensory Body Wellbeing treatments, specifically curated for sleep concerns, stress and anxiety, immune support and ageing concerns. Guests longing to delve deeper into their physical and mental wellbeing will delight in The Refinery Ultimate Face & Back Treatment. Leaving guests with a deeply cleansed, radiant complexion and refreshed state of mind, the treatment offers an intensive massage to release muscular tension and reduce inflammation using the finest natural black pepper, ginger rosemary and lavender oils.

Guests looking for further wellbeing-focussed experiences can book into the hotel’s 24/7 fitness suite or onto complimentary ‘Hidden Cambridge’ walking tours. The perfect active, yet educational experience running every Saturday at 11 am – the walking tours offer an exceptional insight into the historic city. Alternatively, discover Cambridge by bike or boat with a punt along the River Cam.

First opened in 1834 as a coaching inn, University Arms relaunched in August 2018, after a two year, £80m transformation by architect John Simpson and interior designer Martin Brudnizki. The quintessentially British property has been immaculately restored to its former glory, featuring beautiful period features throughout and pays authentic homage to the destination of Cambridge and its academic heritage. Each suite is named after famed Cambridge alumni and comes with a bespoke library curated by Heywood Hill, with many of the suites on the top floor having access to private balconies over Parker’s Piece and bathrooms inside the original domed turrets. The hotel is also home to destination dining restaurant Parker’s Tavern, helmed by local Chef Tristan Welch, and serving up the finest locally sourced, seasonal food.

Treatments start from £60. Open Wednesday – Sunday, currently for hotel residents only. Rates at University Arms start from £209 per night on a B&B basis.
