Demand for business meetings and social events at Cambridge venues has seen a huge increase over the last month, following the launch of a campaign by Meet Cambridge, the official venue-finding service for the city and surrounding area.
Since the ‘Ready For You’ campaign was first unveiled on social media and in the press, Meet Cambridge is reporting more than 100 enquiries for forthcoming events, worth approximately £500,000.
‘Ready For You’ is encouraging event organisers to book ahead with confidence, highlighting that venues are fully prepared to welcome back delegates by offering enhanced hygiene protocols, flexible booking terms, hybrid options incorporating in-person events with virtual attendance and sustainable practices.
Over 80% of the enquiries received are for events later in 2021 and more than a half are for social gatherings such as weddings, dinners and lunches.
Judith Sloane, Head of Meet Cambridge said: “Since launching ‘Ready For You’ to which more than 40 of our venues have signed up, we have seen a major upturn in event enquiries. In addition to the overall increase, we have been delighted that more than 60% have come from new clients, and as well as enquiries for business meetings and social events, garden parties, team gatherings and training are all popular.
“We are seeing a 75% increase on 2019 in web traffic directed from social media where we are promoting the campaign which illustrates how ‘Ready For You’ is raising awareness of our services and the wonderful selection of venues we can offer.
“The gradual lifting of lockdown and growing optimism, together with the reassurance the campaign is delivering, is clearly encouraging people to meet again in person. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!”
