Background

HSBC is a large global organisation. Once a year Senior Managers from the Regulatory Compliance team, that oversees the Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) Business, come together from around the world to discuss issues and solutions, plan for the following year and share other news. It is also a good opportunity for people to meet each and interact outside the work environment.

Brief

For this event, there were a number of specific requirements in terms of accommodation, catering, parking, AV support and wi-fi. There were no issues finding a venue to meet the brief and several people within HSBC had previously been to one of the Cambridge Colleges.

Angela Parker who organised the event said: “Conference Cambridge made the whole process easier by putting our requirements out to the various Colleges who then responded directly to me and quickly too. This was so much simpler and faster than me going to separate venues.

Event

“At Clare College we used bedrooms, dining rooms and the bar area for pre-dinner drinks. The Conference Team was helpful, answering questions quickly and arranging for me to visit and have a tour so I had an idea of where the different facilities were located in relation to each other.

“Because we were hosting a global event we had delegates coming in from Dubai, USA, Brazil, Canada and Hong Kong. Most of these people had never visited Cambridge before so we arranged a team-building event taking in the sights of Cambridge and the University which proved popular.

Client Feedback

“We held part of our meeting in London and part of it in Cambridge. This was to enable people to get away from the office, ensuring no interruptions and better engagement.

“There was excellent feedback from everyone about Clare College and Cambridge. Most felt it was a relaxing, well-organised off-site meeting – the first time the department had held it away from the office.”
